You Don't Actually Hate Having Your Photo Taken....

Most people think they hate having their photo taken. They do not.

They hate being turned into a stiff version of themselves that they do not recognise. The problem is not the camera. It is the idea that “professional” means all the interesting parts of you have to be ironed out.

A good headshot session feels more like a conversation with a camera present. There is space for nerves. There is room to move and breathe. The goal is not to make everyone look the same level of polished. It is to make each person look like the best version of who they actually are on a good day.

For brands, these images do a lot of heavy lifting. They are often the first human impression on a website or proposal. When your team photos feel alive and varied, it signals that you value your people as individuals, not just roles. That matters more than most metrics can show. If you are planning a new set for your team, ask each person one simple question beforehand. “What do you wish people knew about you before they worked with you”.

Bring those answers into the shoot. Use them as prompts. You will get expressions and postures that feel true, and that truth is what your audience is craving
